Stroke is possible for Covid-19 survivors in the first weeks after discharge from hospital, chief neurologist Oleg Vinogradov said.

The doctor indicated that, according to research, the total rate of strokes after all types of Corona virus, including mild and asymptomatic, is about 1.3%.

According to Vinogradov, people who have been infected with severe COVID-19 have a significantly higher risk of stroke than those who have not. For those who have already been infected with the Corona virus, the doctor advises to choose an individual preventive regimen.

Vinogradov also identified two groups of people who may have an increased risk of vascular complications when infected with COVID-19. .
First, it included patients who already had documented risk factors for stroke.
The second, people suffering from a severe form of the Corona virus, which in itself leads to the creation of conditions for the formation of a clot.
