A new mutation of the Omicron virus strain was discovered in Sweden

A new mutation in the Omicron coronavirus strain has been discovered in an academic laboratory in the Swedish city of Uppsala.

The subvariable was recorded on January 14 in three people and named BA.2. Currently, very little is known about the new mutation, said lab spokesman Mats Martinel.

He also indicated that there may be more cases of BA.2 in Uppsala, since the new omicron strain requires deeper sequencing, and therefore it is possible that some of the infected have gone undetected.
