A new magnetic storm hits Earth

Experts at SpaceWeather.com, which specializes in observing solar activity, said that a geomagnetic storm caused by the eruption of a giant volcano may hit Earth on July 21, 2022.

Observers first detected a protrusion on the surface of the Sun on July 12. Three days later, scientists observed an eruption of the prominence, emitting a coronal mass and forming the Earth-directed solar wind stream. According to calculations, the influx should reach the Earth on July 20-21.

Scientists say this magnetic storm will be mild, and may cause fluctuations in power grids and affect some functions of satellites, as well as mobile devices and GPS systems, but not much.
