Journalists’ dissatisfaction with activists kidnapping the union ladder

A large number of fellow journalists, members of the General Assembly, expressed their dissatisfaction with political figures – not related to the General Assembly of Journalists – hijacking the protest stops called for by some colleagues on the ladder of the union to support the Palestinian cause without coordination with the Council.

A statement issued by members of the Syndicate Council, Ayman Abdel Majeed and Hussein Al-Zanati, added: “In addition to the communications that were received orally, a number of colleagues submitted official memorandums to the Syndicate Council demanding that it establish controls for organizing any stops on the stairs.” The union, so that it is with the knowledge of the Council and is committed to its declared goals, and to prevent it from deviating from its declared goals to other goals and accounts that harm the image and interest of the General Association of Journalists. 

 

The statement stressed the The need for the Syndicate Council to fulfill its responsibilities, by working to establish controls that balance freedom and responsibility, especially since the Syndicate Council has spared no combined effort, and through all its committees and activities, to support the Palestinian cause, and will continue to do so until the aggression stops and the brothers obtain their full rights.

The statement warned: of the danger of slowness in establishing controls, the continued kidnapping of individuals who call themselves activists for events, and the export of anti-state clips on social media sites that are picked up by anti-national media outlets to market them as the position of Egyptian journalists, which we completely reject. Concluding that it represents an insult to the homeland and the General Assembly, and threatens its cohesion and the reforms achieved.

 

The two Council members reaffirmed support for the Palestinian cause, rejected forced displacement, and called on the United Nations and the international community. To prosecute Zionist war criminals, take the necessary measures for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, and implement aid to our people in Gaza.
