Actor OJ Simpson, accused of double murder, dies

Former American football player and Hollywood actor OJ Simpson, known, among other things, for the high-profile murder case of his ex-wife and her friend in 1994, has died.

Simpson died on April 10 at the age of 76. His family reported on the athlete’s official account on the social network X that the cause of death was prostate cancer. Simpson’s lawyer confirmed that he died in Las Vegas.

Through football and show business, OJ Simpson earned fame, fortune and admiration, but everything changed forever for him after the stabbing murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simson and her close friend Ronald Goldman, notes Associated Press.

Simpson was charged with double murder. The trial was broadcast on television throughout the country. Although he was acquitted, he was later found guilty of the murder in a civil suit and ordered to pay the victims’ families $33.5 million.

In 2017, OJ Simpson was released from prison after serving 9 years of a 33-year sentence for armed robbery and kidnapping.
