ABU DHABI, 13 APRIL/WAM/ The UAE, represented by the Ministry of Finance, announced its participation in the 2024 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, scheduled to be held in Washington, D.C., during the period from 15 to 20 April.
His Excellency Mohammed bin Hadi Al Husseini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, heads the UAE delegation participating in the meeting, which includes Ali Abdullah Sharafi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for International Financial Relations, Hamad Issa Al Zaabi, Director of the Office of His Excellency the Minister of State for Financial Affairs, and Thuraya Hamid Al Hashemi, Director Relations and international financial organizations at the Ministry of Finance, and a number of specialists from the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates.
His Excellency Mohammed bin Hadi Al Husseini stressed the importance of strengthening international cooperation as the key to advancing sustainable development efforts and finding effective and sustainable solutions for all development needs, stressing the importance of the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group as a platform that contributes to facilitating comprehensive and intensive dialogue among a wide range of key stakeholders. .
His Excellency said: “The Ministry of Finance is keen to enhance discussions on macroeconomic stability and debt sustainability, in addition to addressing the cascading effects of geopolitical challenges on global trade and growth prospects in the medium term. On the sidelines of the Spring Meetings, His Excellency Mohammed bin Hadi Al Husseini will participate in the second meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors of the G20 in Brazil for the year 2024.
His Excellency will deliver a keynote speech at the plenary session of the meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC). His Excellency will also chair the joint plenary session of the Development Committee meeting between the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund.
His Excellency Mohammed bin Hadi Al Husseini will meet with the Director General of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, and a number of participating finance ministers, central bank governors, and heads of regional financial institutions for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan (MENAP) region.
The main ministerial meetings and events of the 2024 Spring Meeting will be held between April 17 and 19, while side events and activities will be organized between April 15 and 20.
Under its umbrella, the 2024 Spring Meetings bring together central bank governors, finance and development ministers, members of parliament, private sector executives, representatives of civil society organizations, and academics, to discuss issues of common global concern, including the global economic outlook, and eliminating… Poverty, economic development, and aid effectiveness.
