Trump’s trial over payment to porn star begins in New York

The trial of Donald Trump has begun in New York over the payment of $130,000 to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Trump is accused of trying to hide the fact that he paid porn actress Stormy Daniels $130,000 ahead of the 2016 presidential election, which he won.

The New York State Attorney’s Office argues that this act could be considered Trump’s forgery or falsification of financial documents. This can be classified as a criminal offense, reports BBC.

Daniels claims she and Trump had sex in 2006 and that Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen paid her to keep quiet about it.

Donald Trump, the former US president and now a contender for a new term, faces 34 charges of fraud. Trump has denied any legal wrongdoing and also denies that he had an affair with Daniels.

Dozens of opponents of the ex-president lined up with a banner: “No one is above the law.”
