Machete-armed thugs go on a 200kmh rampage in Melbourne in a stolen BMW – before police ram it off the road during high-speed chase

Five youths have been arrested after they allegedly led police on a high speed chase across Melbourne in an allegedly stolen BMW.

Police allege the boys were armed with machetes during the 24-hour spree of robberies and cigarette theft at various locations across the city.

The rampage came to a dramatic end late Tuesday night when police rammed the allegedly stolen BMW sedan on Wellington Parade in East Melbourne – close to the MCG – bringing it to a halt.

It followed an hour-long chase through the city’s CBD and eastern suburbs where the vehicle was driven erratically at speeds approaching 200kph along East Link.
