Singer Jess Glynne Slams White House For Using Viral Jet2 Holiday Sound On ICE Video
In yet another tone-deaf move by the White House, the Trump Administration has attempted to connect with the youth by using a popular TikTok sound to promote US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deportations. It’s been such a flop that even the singer whose song is behind the viral sound is disgusted by it.
Over the last month, a TikTok commercial for a “Jet2 Holiday” over the top of singer-songwriter Jess Glynne‘s track “Hold My Hand” has gone completely viral. The sound is currently being used by more than 70,000 videos on the app and is being featured predominantly in lighthearted content about travel inconveniences and the perils of flying on budget airlines.
On Wednesday (local time), the White House used the viral sound over the top of footage of people being deported from the US in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter). It captioned the video, “When ICE books you a one-way Jet2 holiday to deportation. Nothing beats it!”
It’s interesting to note that the only faces blurred out of the video are of the ICE agents themselves, not the people being ferried onto flights for deportation.

When Glynne came across the White House’s video, she wasn’t happy.
“This post honestly makes me sick,” the British singer wrote on Instagram Stories.
“My music is about love, unity and spreading positivity — never about division or hate.”
Glynne isn’t the only person incensed by the video.
“Our country is an embarrassment for posting shit like this,” wrote one X user.
“I thought this was a parody account,” wrote another.
“Even as a Trump supporter, that was on the cringe side,” commented another user.
During the US election, one of Donald Trump‘s biggest campaign points was a surge in efforts to deport illegal immigrants throughout the country. When he was elected, the effort by ICE agents increased rapidly, with people around the country being arrested in their homes and workplaces.
In early June, Los Angeles was hit by a series of raids, seeing hundreds of people being detained and deported. As word spread through the community, protests against the raids began. In response, Trump overstepped California Governor Gavin Newsom and ordered 2,000 National Guard Troops to LA. At the time, Newsom referred to the decision as “purposefully inflammatory”.
