Veterinarians praise the success of agriculture in vaccinating livestock against foot-and-mouth disease

The General Syndicate of Veterinarians praised, in a statement, the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture, represented by the General Authority for Veterinary Services, in preserving livestock, appreciating its role in combating foot-and-mouth disease.
The General Syndicate also appreciated the role of the Authority and the veterinary medicine directorates for their diligent work in vaccination campaigns and periodic inspections.
The Syndicate explained that the Authority’s rapid action in monitoring the disease and providing vaccines resulted in vaccinating more than 1.5 million people. One million heads of livestock so far within the national campaign.
The union called on all concerned parties to join hands with “veterinary services” To take preventive measures, especially with the approach of winter, it also appealed to breeders to cooperate fully with field teams to ensure that their livestock are immunized and protected from losses.
The union concluded by reassuring citizens that the epidemiological situation is under control, stressing the safety of meat offered in markets as long as it is slaughtered in official slaughterhouses subject to veterinary supervision.
