An urgent ministerial decision regarding the system of study and examinations in schools for the gifted and gifted

Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, issued Resolution No. 303 regarding the reorganization of the work, study system, and examinations in schools for the outstanding and gifted of all kinds, after the approval of the Supreme Council for Pre-University Education, with the aim of enhancing the care of distinguished students in science, mathematics, engineering, and technology.

 

The decision stipulates the establishment of a central unit called the Unit of Schools for the Talented and Gifted, which reports directly to the minister and supervises all technical, administrative, and financial affairs of the schools, while determining the admission conditions and the number of accepted students. And the formation of a technical body to evaluate students’ projects and prepare examination questions.

The decision also specified the study system in the School for Excellence in Ain Shams, which is taught in the Arabic language according to the Egyptian Baccalaureate system in the tracks of medicine, life sciences, engineering, and computer science, with students choosing their track after the first year of secondary school.

As for schools for excellence in science and technology (STEM), they follow a new system that allows students to choose the scientific group, science or mathematics, in the third year of secondary school, with creditable and non-creditable basic subjects, and a commitment to study the programs. The process is in parallel with theory, and an accurate mechanism is applied to calculate the cumulative GPA.

The decision stipulates that students are given two opportunities to take the exam for each subject, with the possibility of grievance within ten days of announcing the results, and clear procedures to prevent fraud and penalties for violators, including canceling exams or depriving the student of taking the next exam in the event of repeated violations.

The decision aims to enhance applied scientific education, develop students’ skills, and prepare a scientific base qualified for enrollment in university education and scientific research, with Ensuring the highest standards of academic integrity and discipline in the educational process.
