At least two injured in Black Friday shooting at Valley Fair Mall in Silicon Valley as shoppers run for cover

At least two people have been injured after a gunman opened fire at a busy Silicon Valley mall on Black Friday. 

Terrified shoppers ran for cover as chaos erupted at Westfield Valley Fair Mall in West San Jose, California, police announced just after 6 pm local time. 

The two victims sustained gunshot wounds and have been taken to the hospital. Their condition remains unclear. 

Police have urged community members to stay away from the mall as officers investigate, authorities said in a statement. 

Just after 6:30 pm local time, cops said the situation was no longer active and appeared to be an isolated incident. 

Officers are continuing to clear out the mall and said there is ‘no ongoing threat to public safety.’ 

Witnesses from within the mall have recounted the horror online, with many saying that they were terrified while being trapped in stores when authorities issued a lockdown. 

Bone-chilling footage shows shoppers evacuating a shop they had all crammed into for safety amid the gunfire.
