
The Media Center of the Ministry of Local Development issued the “Weekly Infographic,” in its 165th edition, about the most prominent activities and events of the Ministry led by Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, which included a group of events, meetings, and follow-up of important development projects.
The Upper Egypt Development Authority held a Board of Directors meeting headed by Major General Engineer Amr Abdel Moneim Mostafa, Chairman of the Authority, and in the presence of Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of the Environment, in addition to members of the Council representing all ministries and concerned authorities. Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, announced the launch of the programs for the seventeenth training week of the 2025/2026 training plan at the Local Development Training Center in Saqqara, during the period from 11/30 to 12/10/2025, with the participation of 140 trainees from various government agencies. Dr. Manal Awad also made an extensive inspection visit to the Gharbia Governorate, with the participation of Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Minister of Endowments, and Major General Ashraf El-Gendy, Governor of Gharbia. The visit included openings and follow-ups of a number of development, service and social projects, within the framework of supporting the state’s efforts to improve the quality of life and enhance the umbrella of social protection and services. Dr. Manal Awad held a meeting via video conference with all the assistant secretaries-general in the governorates of the Republic, to follow up on the system of spatial variables, from the headquarters of the control center of the National Network for Emergency and Public Safety, in the presence of Dr. Saeed Helmy, head of the strategic management and local development sector and head of the ministerial committee formed, by decision of the minister and members of the committee, related to following up on the system of spatial variables, legalization and centers. It also received a report from the Ministry’s Central Population Unit on the most prominent efforts made in the population issue file, during the month of November 2025, within the framework of implementing the National Population and Development Strategy 2030. The report indicated the Ministry’s support for 95 population initiatives in 27 governorates and the Ministry’s Central Unit, and the achievements of the month of November were the implementation of 2,238 activities that benefited 214,639 citizens, including 123,138 in Upper Egypt and 82,064 in Lower Egypt.
Dr. Manal Awad participated in the reception held by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in the Arab Republic of Egypt, on the occasion of the 54th Union Day, in the new capital, in the presence of Hamad Al Zaabi, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Cairo, and its permanent representative to the League of Arab States, and a number of ministers, governors, ambassadors, media professionals, and senior figures. The Ministry of Local Development in the new capital hosted a delegation from the “Union of its Youth” affiliated with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, within the framework of the Ministry’s efforts to enhance community participation and interest in youth from various governorates of the Republic, and to participate in the implementation of the fourth phase of the “100 Million Trees” presidential initiative, during the fiscal year 2025-2026 as part of the state’s efforts to enhance green spaces and reduce pollution.
Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of Environment, congratulated Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, on the occasion of his winning the Best Arab Governor Award within the Arab Government Excellence Awards in its fourth session 2024 – 2025.
Awad announced the joining of three new Egyptian cities: Cairo and Mansoura (Dakahlia Governorate), and Shebin El-Kom (Menoufia Governorate).
