Minneapolis ICE shooting latest: Man killed after being shot multiple times by federal agents, police chief confirms

Federal agents have been involved in yet another fatal shooting in Minneapolis, city officials have said.

“We are aware of reports of another shooting involving federal law enforcement in the area of 26th Street W and Nicollet Ave. We are working to confirm additional details,” officials posted online Saturday morning.

Footage of the incident appeared to show multiple law enforcement officers struggling with a man on the ground before a gunshot is heard and then several more are fired. The man then falls still.

The Independent has not been able to verify the footage, but The Minnesota Star-Tribune reports that the man was shot in the chest and was taken to hospital.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said the man had died following the incident.

State governor Tim Walz said he had spoken to the White House about the incident.

“Minnesota has had it. This is sickening,” Walz wrote on X. “The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.”

It comes just over two weeks since 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good was fatally shot by an ICE agent during an altercation. Days later a Venezuelan man was also shot in the leg while attempting to escape immigration officials.

Minnesota Senator Tina Smith calls shooting ‘catastrophic’

Reacting to news of the shooting Minnesota Senator Tina Smith wrote: “Another catastrophic shooting in Minneapolis by federal agents.

“We are gathering more information, but ICE must leave now so MPD can secure the scene and do their jobs.”

Tear gas used on protesters at the scene

Protesters have already gathered near to the scene of the shooting in Minneapolis, with some being detained by law enforcement.

Pictures show a man being led away as well as tear gas being deployed to subdue demonstrators.

The man shot in Minneapolis Saturday morning is dead, city Police Chief Brian O’Hara has said.

Officials are due to give an press briefing on the incident shortly.

Minnesota Senator Klobuchar weighs in on shooting

Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar also confirmed the shooting on X.

“There has been another shooting involving federal agents in Minneapolis and I am working to get more information,” she wrote. “I will update as soon as possible.

Status of victim unkown

The status of the man shot by federal agents is unknown.

The Minnesota Star-Tribune reports that the man was shot in the chest and was taken to hospital.

In video of the incident an onlooker can be heard shouting that the man is dead, after shots ring out.

Fox News reporter says suspect was armed with a gun

Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin says he was told by DHS sources that the man shot in Minneapolis Saturday morning was armed with a gun.

The weapon was recovered by federal agents, Melugin said, posting a picture of the alleged firearm.

Tim Walz confirms ‘sickening’ shooting

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz confirmed the shooting on X, describing the incident as “sickening.”

“I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning,” Walz said.

“Minnesota has had it. This is sickening. The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.”
