Josh Allen reveals how he is preparing for wife Hailee Steinfeld’s due date with quarterback set to juggle being a new dad with the NFL season

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has revealed how he is gearing up for wife Hailee Steinfeld’s due date.

The signal caller and the Bills suffered playoff heartbreak earlier this month when they were eliminated in the Divisional Round by an overtime 33-30 defeat to the Denver Broncos.

However, while Allen may not be preparing for the Super Bowl, he is turning his attention towards another very important date.

Allen and his wife Hailee Steinfeld announced in December that they are expecting their first baby together less than a year after they tied the knot.

And, while the Bills’ 2025 season is officially over, Allen was asked this week whether he was beginning to ‘map things out’ this offseason ahead of Steinfeld going into labor.

Allen admitted that the couple was preparing to ‘the best of our abilities,’ while not letting on the exact date that their baby is expected to arrive.

‘I’ve known this for well in advance,’ he said, via Sports Illustrated, during Thursday’s press conference to unveil new head coach Joe Brady. ‘I have siblings that have kids, I’ve got a lot of friends who have kids, I don’t know if you can plan too far in advance.

‘I’m very much looking forward to that with my wife, becoming a dad. It’s something that I will take with great pride, and it’s something that we’re going to figure out as we go, like everything else.’

Allen may not be a Super Bowl champion but he insisted that it wasn’t the title that he coveted the most.

‘This is the most important thing I’ll ever be in my life – is being a dad,’ Allen said. ‘I love being a football player, and I love being a quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, but I’m looking forward to this one.’

Allen also revealed that he underwent surgery for a broken bone in his right foot – but the quarterback expects to be at 100 percent by the start of spring practices.

Allen, who was on crutches and wearing a protective boot, said Thursday that he broke the fifth metatarsal in his foot all the way back on December 21.

The injury occurred in the first half of Buffalo’s 23-20 win at the Browns, with Allen finishing the game and then playing through the issue for the rest of the regular season.

Allen was there for Brady’s introductory news conference, having sat in on interviews during a six-day search process in which Buffalo considered nine candidates. But Allen lamented his failings against the Broncos which – he believes – cost Buffalo a spot in the Super Bowl.

‘If I make one more play, that game in Denver, we’re probably not having this press conference right now,’ Allen said.

‘We’re probably not making a change. In all honesty, we’re probably getting ready to play another game. I’d be lying to you if I didn’t say I was still sick to my stomach about how the season ended.’
