He might be steering the ship as the new host of Australian Survivor, but fans could soon see David Genat enter another reality TV universe.
Chatting with PEDESTRIAN.TV about his growing international profile, the “Golden God” addressed the long-running internet chatter about whether he’d ever appear on The Traitors US — and the answer is exciting.
“Yeah, it’s crossed my desk quite a few times,” he revealed. “[The show’s host] Alan Cumming is amazing, so it would be very cool to be a part of that zeitgeist.”
Could David Genat actually appear on The Traitors?
For anyone who has watched Genat master the art of strategic chaos over the years, this should surprise absolutely nobody. The man practically lives for psychological warfare.
He’s now competed on Australian Survivor three times — taking the title of Sole Survivor in 2020 — and won a whopping $9.1 million on Deal or No Deal Island last year.
But can he actually sign on to the fifth season of the smash hit US series now that he’s hosting Australian Survivor?
“We’d definitely have to ask Dad and Mum [Channel 10],” he joked, referencing the inevitable network approvals and contractual gymnastics. “But I would love to do it.”
And this isn’t just polite reality TV fluff either — he sounds genuinely obsessed with the format.
“I love that show. I think it’s an amazing show,” he said. “I love strategy game shows, and I think The Traitors is just so cool.”
Honestly, the logic tracks. Genat built his reputation on reading people, manipulating alliances and delivering blindsides with a grin. Dropping that exact energy into a Scottish castle built on paranoia feels borderline unfair.
Of course, there’s one very boring but very real obstacle standing in the way of this reality TV crossover dream: scheduling.
“A lot of it would come down to filming schedules because we’ve got a lot of filming to do this year,” he continued. “If it lines up, I’d love to do it.”
David admitted he’s already swapped notes with reality TV legend Parvati Shallow, who won Survivor: Australia V The World and competed on The Traitors US in 2024, and has seemingly hatched a plan for winning the show.
The Traitors is expected to return with its fifth season in January 2027 with a brand new cast of celebs, so let’s hope David makes the cut.
