Sarah J. Maas Confirms Two New ACOTAR Books Are Coming Soon And They Are ‘Fucking Long’

In huge news for ACOTAR fans, author Sarah J. Maas has revealed that we’re getting not one, but two new A Court of Thorns and Roses books, with release dates already set.

Maas dropped the news during her appearance on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, saying the sixth and seventh entries into the hugely popular series will hit bookshelves in 2026 and early-2027, respectively.

“[The sixth] book is coming out October 27th, and then on January 12th, like two months later, the other book,” she explained. “So there will be two books within a very short span.”

The author stopped short of revealing official titles of covers, but did open up about the lengthy writing process, saying the two new instalments “poured out of me” while working on the projects in Montana.

“It’s been a long time coming. It’s something that took me a long time to write, just because there were enough things going on in my life that I had to sort through,” Maas said.

“It took me a while to find the right story and to be in the right head space, and then it poured out of me very quickly. I was in Montana this summer and I think there’s some kind of energy vortex [there], because I just got there and it clicked. It all came out of me,” she added.

Elsewhere in the interview, Maas teased that the two new books will be “fucking long”, saying they’ll be released back-to-back so they can be read in quick succession.

“I could not live with the idea of publishing part one and then wait[ing] a whole year”, she said. “I want that in everyone’s hands, so that’s why we’re doing this back-to-back release. So there’s gonna be a lot of ACOTAR in a very short time.”

As if that weren’t enough, Maas also teased another project separate from ACOTAR but was tight-lipped about the deets. “I’ve been working on this next project, I’m not gonna tell you the title yet or cover any of that, but I’ve seen some of it,” MAAS said.

The first ACOTAR book dropped in 2015, with its follow-ups — A Court of Mist and Fury, A Court of Wings and Ruin, A Court of Frost and Starlight and A Court of Silver Flames — steadily hitting shelves up until 2021.

That’s a long time between reads, but fantasy bookworms can now rest assured they’ll have plenty to dig into come October of next year. And then again a few months later on January 12, 2027.
