What we know about Rihanna shooting suspect after Ivanna Lisette Ortiz charged with attempted murder

Authorities have arrested a 35-year-old woman on attempted murder charges after she allegedly fired around ten shots at pop megastar Rihanna’s home in Beverly Hills.

Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, from Florida, opened fire on Sunday afternoon at some point after 1.15 pm with an AR-15-style weapon, law enforcement sources told The Los Angeles Times. A motive for the shooting has not been made public.

Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, was home at the time, according to the source.

It is unknown if her partner, A$AP Rocky, and their three children were at the address in the uber-exclusive Beverly Hills Post Office area.

In the aftermath of the shooting, more details are coming to light on the suspect.

A Facebook account bearing Ortiz’s name and using pictures of the suspect has made several claims about Rihanna in the past. In some, Ortiz tagged Rihanna’s social media handle. The last publicly available post on that profile was made on February 28.

In February 2026, the account uploaded a post that directly addressed the We Found Love hitmaker.

Ortiz, a resident of Orlando, some 2,500 miles from Los Angeles, has several prior arrests in her home state, according to records seen by The LA Times.

In 2013, she was involved in a bankruptcy case, and in 2021, she was arrested for suspected careless driving. Two years later, she was arrested again on suspicion of domestic violence and battery.

An Orlando Police Department incident report, which was seen by Page Six, suggested that the 2023 charge involved Ortiz attacking her ex-husband in front of their child.

The pair argued via text messages about the ex-husband dropping off their daughter at Ortiz’s apartment, according to the report.

“You’ll be getting socked on the nose tonight,” Ortiz allegedly wrote in a text.

Upon reaching the house, Ortiz’s ex-husband began filming their encounter, then asked his daughter to leave with him.

After that, Ortiz allegedly tried to grab his phone before falling to the ground. When she stood back up, she tried to punch her ex-husband, the report claims.

The ex-husband told officers that he held Ortiz to the ground and asked her to stop, before a neighbor appeared.

Then, Ortiz’s ex-husband called the police, who left his daughter in his custody, according to the report.

Dispatch audio heard by The LA Times revealed that Ortiz allegedly carried out Sunday’s shooting from a white Tesla.

She fled from the scene after the attack, but was tracked to a shopping center parking lot in Sherman Oaks by officers in a helicopter.

Ortiz was subsequently arrested, around 30 minutes after the 911 call came in.

Armen Arias, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson, told The LA Times that officers found an assault rifle and seven casings in her vehicle. He added that bullet holes were found in the gate to Rihanna’s property and in an RV parked in the driveway.

Ortiz’s bail has been set at $10,225,000, according to inmate records from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

A LAPD official told KTLA 5 that the high bail amount was set because Ortiz was booked on an attempted murder charge. The number of occupants in Rihanna’s home at the time of the shooting and the weapon used also factored into the decision.

The Independent has contacted the LAPD for further comment.
