A press conference on the sidelines of the opening of the exhibition…Treasures from Egyptian Museums

Within the official opening of the exhibition “Ancient Egypt Reveals Its Secrets: Treasures from Egyptian Museums,” held at the Hong Kong Palace Museum in the People’s Republic of China, Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, held an extensive international press conference, which witnessed the presence of nearly 500 media and journalistic organizations representing Chinese and international news agencies, television channels, newspapers and magazines, in coverage that reflects the growing global interest in Egyptian civilization. And its unique heritage.

During his speech, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities expressed his pride in being present at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, describing it as a prestigious cultural edifice that embodies belief in the power of heritage and the resonance of history in the conscience of peoples. 

He also pointed out that the opening of this exhibition comes a few days after the historic opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum on the first of this November, to form a new window overlooking more than five thousand years of Egyptian civilization, He described the exhibition as a cultural dialogue that brings together the past and the present, between Egypt and the world, and between two cultures that share a deep appreciation for eternal human creativity.

Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled explained that the exhibition includes 250 distinct artifacts selected from a group of Egyptian museums, including the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, and the museums of Marsa Matrouh, Kafr El-Sheikh, Luxor, Sohag, Suez, and Hurghada, in addition to the latest discoveries from the Saqqara region. Archaeological Museum, pointing out that the exhibition includes a group of pieces that were previously displayed at the Shanghai Museum as part of the " “Peak of the Pyramid: The Civilization of Ancient Egypt,” which achieved great success in China, as it received 2.7 million visitors during its stay, reflecting the status of Egyptian civilization in the hearts of the Chinese public.

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities confirmed that the opening of the Hong Kong exhibition represents an extension of the long-standing cultural partnership between Egypt and China, and embodies the fruit of the shared passion for preserving human heritage and presenting it in a responsible and inspiring manner to the global audience. He also stressed the symbolism of this cultural event, which coincides with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2026, as a new step towards enhancing cultural and civilizational cooperation between them.

 

He added that there are four Chinese archaeological missions operating in Egypt in the archaeological areas of Saqqara, Luxor, and Mit Rahina.

At the end of his speech, Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled expressed his sincere thanks. And appreciation to the management of the Hong Kong Palace Museum and its work team, in recognition of their professional efforts, cultural vision, and commitment in organizing this distinguished event, stressing that this cooperation constitutes a model of fruitful cultural relations between Egypt and China.
