
Attention all movie buffs, cinema enthusiasts, and general pop culture fanatics. The 2026 Oscars have finally arrived to celebrate the best films released last year, and the competition has truly never been stronger.

Sinners (aka the best vampire film since Twilight) has officially broken the record with 16 nominations, followed closely by Leonardo DiCaprio‘s action-thriller One Battle After Another with 13 nominations. The two films are currently the favourites to win the all-important Best Picture, with Bugonia, F1, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value and Train Dreams also up for the top award.
Rose Byrne and Jacob Elordi are both first-time nominees for their respective roles in If I Had Legs, I’d Kick You and Frankenstein, while fellow Aussies Nick Cave and costume and production designer Fiona Crombie are also hoping to receive a gold statuette.
