Baby dead and a five-year-old is seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle at a busy shopping centre carpark

A baby has died and a five-year-old child has been left in serious condition after they were hit by a car at a busy Sydney shopping centre.
Emergency services were called to the carpark of Minto Mall in Sydney’s south-west about 3.30pm on Monday following reports of the incident.
The infant girl died at the scene despite being given CPR by police and further treatment by paramedics.
The five-year-old school child was also treated at the scene before being taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital in serious but stable condition.
It is not yet clear what led to the collision, but police said a 35-year-old driver was uninjured.
Witness, Debbie, described the incident as ‘very traumatic’ for onlookers.
Multiple ambulance and police crews were pictured at the scene, where witnesses reported seeing a helicopter flying overhead.
A badly-damaged pram was also pictured at the scene.

Locals took to social media to report the ‘crazy’ situation unfolding outside the shopping centre.
‘I (saw) a mangled pram. Praying little one’s OK,’ one woman said.
‘So sad for family,’ another said.
Police said a crime scene has been established at the scene where officers are investigating the crash.
