Beyond the Gates on Monday followed in the footsteps of CBS’ other soaps by featuring a crossover appearance by a fan fave from The Young and the Restless.
Emmy-winning actor Bryton James, who plays Devon Winters on Y&Rappeared in scenes with Clifton Davis (Vernon) and Tamara Tunie (Anita), as well as Karla Mosley (Dani). James’ appearance marked the first time Beyond the Gates has featured an actor from one of CBS’ other sudsers.

Devon arrived in the Maryland enclave to see Anita and Vernon, who once knew his father Neil (played by the late Kristoff St. John). Devon was in town to offer Anita, who leads a singing group called the Articulettes, a record deal, but she turns it down and offers up the other members, instead.
James’ appearance was a one-off; no other crossovers are planned for now.

The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful have routinely engaged in crossovers. It helps that both sudsers shoot in Los Angeles. Beyond the Gates shoots in Georgia.
On July 29, Beyond the Gates hit 100 episodes. Creator Michele Val Jean teased the addition of a “hot male” in coming episodes.
