EXCLUSIVE: CAA and management firm Ithaka Media have scored a coup with the signing of German filmmaker Mascha Schilinski, whose sophomore film Sound Of Falling made waves at Cannes last year.
Germany’s International Oscar hopeful won the Jury Prize at the festival and received some rave reviews, before being picked up by Mubi during the festival. Mubi will release on January 16, 2026.
The film won the Silver Frog at Camerimage, scored Best International Feature and Best Original Screenplay nominations at the 2025 Gotham Film Awards, and has multiple European Film Awards nominations including Best European Film, Best European Director, and Best European Screenwriter.
The movie charts the story of four girls, Alma (1910s), Erika (1940s), Angelika (1980s), and Lenka (2020s) who each spend their youth on the same farm in northern Germany. As the home evolves over a century, echoes of the past linger in its walls. Though separated by time, their lives begin to mirror each other, revealing shared secrets that have been kept hidden.
In his Cannes review, Deadline’s Damon Wise called the film “superb” and “a masterclass in ethereal, unnerving brilliance”. Yesterday we debuted the film’s first U.S. trailer.
Schilinski’s debut feature Dark Blue Girl, made as a student, premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2017. She continues to be represented in Germany by Patricia Barona at the Talent Republic Agency.
Ithaka Media is the internationally-oriented LA management company run by former longtime WME agent Jerome Duboz and whose clients include Bong Joon Ho, Gael Garcia Bernal, Jalmari Helander and Ryusuke Hamaguchi.
