Captain of Nursing: The Egyptian Board is the highest specialized certificate in nursing and is equivalent to residency and fellowship programs

Dr. Kawthar Mahmoud, Head of the Nursing Syndicate, today participated in a specialized session for nursing, within the activities of the World Conference on Population, Health and Human Development (PHDC’25), held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, during the period from November 12 to 15, under the slogan “Empowering Individuals, Promoting Progress, Providing Opportunities.”

The participation of the Nursing Syndicate came within an expanded scientific program aimed at reviewing The latest developments in developing the nursing profession and raising the efficiency of health personnel in line with the state’s vision for health development and upgrading medical services.

During the session, Dr. Kawthar Mahmoud gave two main presentations; The first was entitled “The Egyptian Board and Nursing in Egypt,” and the second was about “Activities of the Egyptian Health Council in the New Clinical Guidelines for Nursing and the Code of Professional Conduct.” The two presentations addressed fundamental topics related to the future of professional practice and the quality of health education, stressing that building strong, specialized nursing cadres is a basic foundation for any integrated health system.

Dr. Kawthar Mahmoud explained in the first presentation that The Egyptian Board is the highest professional specialty certificate obtained by health sector graduates after years of experience and training, noting that it is an advanced training program similar to international residency and fellowship programs, in terms of capacity building and clinical skills development.

She stressed that the nursing specialization in the Egyptian Board gives the nurse an advanced professional level, and qualifies them to be a “certified nursing specialist.” In a precise field, which raises the quality of health care and improves professional practice on the ground.

Dr. Kawthar Mahmoud added that obtaining higher professional certificates such as the board contributes to enhancing the image of the nursing profession as a specialized scientific profession, and enhances community confidence in its vital role within the health system.

In the second presentation, the Head of the Nursing Syndicate indicated that the Egyptian Health Council plays a pivotal role in regulating health practices, by developing an integrated system for post-university medical and health education and training. Specialization, and qualifying workers in various health professions.

She explained that the council tests cadres to ensure that they meet the requirements for safe health practice in accordance with the state’s health policy, and also works to achieve integration between scientific bodies inside and outside Egypt to achieve the highest international standards in training and professional practice.

Dr. Kawthar Mahmoud confirmed that the Egyptian Health Council is the basic reference for setting the professional and ethical framework for the nursing profession, ensuring that nursing practice is compatible with global evidence-based standards (EBP). It establishes a culture of patient safety and quality of care.

She indicated that the Council’s activities contribute to raising the efficiency of workers, unifying professional standards, and developing clinical guidelines, which directly reflects on improving the health services provided to the Egyptian citizen.

It is noteworthy that Dr. Maha Adel, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at the British University, Wafa Abdel Azim, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at the Nile Valley University, Dr. Safaa Salah, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at the Nile Valley University, participated in the nursing session. Abed, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at Cairo University, Dr. Marwa Mostafa, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at Benha University, Dr. Mohamed Sharqawi, a nursing teacher, Dr. Zainab Mohamed, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Helwan University, in addition to Dr. Buthaina Mohamed, Dr. Zeinab Metwally, Dr. Hanan El-Sebaei, Dr. Zeinab Hussein, Dr. Sherine Mohamed Saad, and Dr. Nancy Alaa.
