Chris Noth reveals what led to ‘hurtful’ friendship fallout with Sarah Jessica Parker after taking wild dig at SATC star

Chris Noth cemented his status as a major TV star with his role as Carrie Bradshaw’s on/off boyfriend Mr. Big on HBO’s hit series Sex And The City.

The former Law & Order star had a recurring role on the show between 1998 and 2004 and went on to co-star in two spinoff films in 2008 and 2010.

But now, he confirmed in a preview of his upcoming appearance on the Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson podcast, he no longer has any contact with his former costar Sarah Jessica Parker, who played Bradshaw.

‘We’re not friends – I think that’s pretty obvious,’ Noth, 71, said, according to the preview obtained by People on Wednesday.

The falling out between the pair came after he was accused of sexual assault by multiple women in late 2021 and shared that in the wake of the allegations, he felt abandoned by Parker.

Noth said he and Parker’s falling out came after she made a joint statement in December of 2021 with their SATC castmates Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon regarding the allegations against him.

At the time, Parker, Nixon and Davis said they were ‘deeply saddened’ and showed public support for ‘the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences.’

Noth told Robinson that it was ‘disappointing’ to see his once close friends and co-stars seemingly turn their back on him.

‘The statement that they put out — which was nothing more than brand management, really — I don’t know, it was sad, it was disappointing, it was surprising,’ he said.

‘Because you need to call me and hear my side of this. You’ve known me for many years, and we’ve worked [together] for many years.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to Parker’s representatives for comment but has yet to hear back.

‘I get it, that’s more Hollywood than Hollywood. But before you make that statement, you know me, you’ve known me all these years, give me a call so I can give you the real scoop about this.

‘And that didn’t happen, and that was too bad,’ said Noth, who played Mr. Big on Sex and the City and the reboot And Just Like That. (The character was killed off via a heart attack in the wake of the allegations against Noth.)

Looking back, Noth said on the podcast that there were key lessons learned from the situation and that he now knows who his ‘real friends are.’

‘What’s gained is good. You know where people stand and you know who your real friends are and who they’re not.

‘That’s important to know. I just know if it had been on the other hand, I wouldn’t have done that.’

Noth said of the treatment from his SATC co-stars, ‘That was hurtful, and it really affected everything.’

Noth was in the headlines earlier this month after he acknowledged his disenchantment with Parker in response to a social media user.

Noth posted a gym selfie on January 9 with the caption ‘F&@k new years – LETS GO!!!!’ – two days after Parker had been the recipient of the 2026 Carol Burnett Award at a Golden Globes-adjacent event.

A user then replied to the actor, ‘You mean f*** SJP & her award right? lol,’ to which Noth wrote, ‘Right’ in response – touching off speculation from fans of the HBO franchise.

After his one-word response generated a considerable reaction, Noth said he was distancing himself from any controversy, and the reaction was overblown.

‘My off the cuff slightly sarcastic response to a comment on the internet seems to have caused a tempest in a teapot,’ Noth said on Instagram. ‘It is not news. It is not worth all this discussion.

‘It is a waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about.’

The scandal kicked off in late 2021 when two unnamed women accused the actor of sexual assaults in 2004 and 2015 in a piece for The Hollywood Reporter

Noth in 2021 issued a statement denying any wrongdoing, saying, ‘The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false.

‘These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago – no always means no – that is a line I did not cross. The encounters were consensual.’

Noth faced professional consequences in the wake of the allegations, as he was fired from his role on the CBS crime drama The Equalizer, and scenes set to air on the finale of And Just Like That… were removed.

Noth in August of 2023 said he never sexually assaulted anyone, but confessed to stepping out on his marriage to wife Tara Wilson, 43. They are parents to two sons, Orion, 18, and Keats, five.

‘I strayed on my wife, and it’s devastating to her and not a very pretty picture,’ the actor told USA Today. ‘What it isn’t is a crime.’

While no criminal charges were filed against the actor, he said he felt it had a massive impact on the way he was perceived by the public following the series of events.

Noth told the newspaper, ‘There’s nothing I can say to change anyone’s mind when you have that kind of a tidal wave. It sounds defensive. I’m not.

‘There’s no criminal court. There’s no criminal trial. There’s nothing for me to get on the stand about and get my story out, get witnesses.

He added, ‘And there’s even more absurd add-ons that are completely ridiculous, that have absolutely no basis in fact.’
