
Cairo University Council held its monthly meeting, headed by Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadiq, in the Ahmed Lotfy Al-Sayed Hall, in the presence of the university’s vice presidents, college deans, and the university’s secretary general, to discuss a number of topics related to the educational, research, and service process.
At the beginning of the meeting, the University Council congratulated Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadiq for the confidence of the political leadership and the issuance of Republican Decree No. 436 of 2024 appointing him as President of Cairo University for a period of 4 years.
The President of the University announced the launch of the “Cairo University Strategy for Artificial Intelligence” In light of achieving the goals of sustainable development and Egypt’s Vision 2030, the Council agreed to form a higher committee whose mission will be to follow up on the implementation of the strategy in the university’s various colleges and institutes, and to establish an artificial intelligence unit in each college or institute to implement the axes of this strategy.

The President of Cairo University also directed that an integrated directory of sites and research laboratories available within the university be made available and distributed, to facilitate benefit for researchers from inside and outside the university.
The Council agreed. , to allocate a terrace building (1) at the headquarters of the international branch of Cairo University in 6th of October City to be used to begin studies at Cairo National University after completing the procedures starting from the academic year 2025/2026
Also The Council approved the formation of an executive committee for coordination and integration between university presses, which includes the Cairo University Center for Printing and Publishing and the Blended Education Press in order to achieve increased efficiency and production capacity, with the committee directing to activate the Cairo University House for Publishing and Distribution.

The Council reviewed the university’s activities within the framework of the President of the Republic’s initiative (A New Beginning for Building Humanity) and learned about the results of the comprehensive development convoys that were launched from the community service and environmental development sector to the villages of Giza Governorate within the framework of activating the initiative. These convoys included specializations Human medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, agriculture, and awareness.
The Council also agreed to double social solidarity support for regular students as partial support for academic expenses, and also agreed to host university cities for non-resident male and female students. During the examination period, due to the distance of their places of residence from the headquarters of their committees in the colleges, without affecting the priority of the original eligible students to reside in the cities.
The Council approved the arrangements for participation in The twelfth session of the World Urban Forum, Urban Expo, which will be held at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in Cairo in cooperation with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, during the period from 4 to 8 November 2024, with participation fees due to the New Urban Communities Authority being paid.
The Cairo University Council approved the conclusions of the Cairo University Committee for the Ethics of Care and Use of Animals in Education and Scientific Research, in light of the video clips attributed to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
The Council also agreed to begin procedures for establishing a number of university companies, including the Cairo University Company for the Management of Intangible Assets, and companies to market consulting, research and innovation services in the medical, engineering and pharmaceutical fields, in addition to the Cairo University Company for Intelligence Applications and Safety. And the Council approved the memorandum of understanding between the College of Pharmacy and the University of Otago in New Zealand, and the cooperation agreement between the College of Arts "Department of Japanese Language and Literature" And the International Center for Japanese Cultural Studies " Institute of Humanitarian and Cultural Studies" An institutional body for research cooperation between universities, a memorandum of understanding between the Faculty of Economics and Political Science and Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands, and the renewal of the memorandum of understanding between the Faculty of Commerce and the International Center for Sports Studies, and a memorandum of understanding between the Kasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine and the National Office of Occupational Medicine in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania in the areas of research, education and programs. Training, a cooperation agreement between the Faculty of Pharmacy and Lubin Medical University in Poland, a memorandum of understanding between engineering and the Deep Space Exploration Laboratory regarding cooperation on the International Lunar Research Station in China (ILRS), and two memorandums of understanding between the Graduate School of Nanotechnology and Dubna State University in Russia, and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at the Egyptian-Chinese University in Areas of research, education and training programmes.
