Married At First Sight (MAFS) participants are known for doing the most to make some money after appearing on the reality show, and honestly, who could blame them?
After pouring their hearts out on screen and letting viewers see the best (and more often than not, the worst) of them for 10 weeks, it’s no surprise they’d want to earn some cash through personalised messages on Cameo and social media sponsorship opportunities.
In recent years, many brides and grooms have been monetising their MAFS experience with nightclub appearances across the country.
Fan favourite groom Luke Fourniotis (who quit during the third commitment ceremony) has truly been making the most of his 15 minutes of fame, popping up at sweaty, teen-filled clubs in Sydney, Cleveland and Mackay.
Joel Moses and Steven Danyluk also partied at Scary Canary — known as “Sydney’s wildest party bar” for students and backpackers — earlier this month, while Scott McCristal and David Momoh are scheduled to appear at the Cleveland Sands Hotel on Easter Saturday.
Scott and David’s appearance is part of the venue’s “Bad Bunny Ball”, featuring a “best dressed bad bunny” competition, “naughty stage games” and a “fluffy bunny ear drop”, and please, say less.
How much money do MAFS stars make from nightclub appearances?
So, how much money can MAFS participants earn from these nightclub appearances? 2024 bride Eden Harper revealed on PEDESTRIAN.TV’s podcast Villain Edit that although she declined the opportunities, cast members can earn a lot of money for “very little work”.
“I think you get between $3-5K an appearance, and you have to be there for 90 minutes,” she said.
Eden explained that one participant might be paid $5K if they’re “the biggest star” while their lesser-known co-stars receive $1K each for partying with them, but the fee is usually around $3K per appearance.
“That’s what I was offered anyway, and that’s what a few of the people on my season were getting,” she added. “You only have to be there for 90 minutes, so it killed me saying no to that, but I was like, I just can’t. I can’t do it.”
As for why she turned down the lucrative opportunity, Eden explained that it simply wasn’t her “thing”.
“I don’t go clubbing, so it just felt like a weird thing for me to do,” she said. “And I was also like, does anyone really care about me? I don’t think they do.”
Eden was also notably still with her partner Jayden Eynaud up until the season finished airing on TV, and it’s usually the single participants who do the nightclub rounds.
The fact that Steven and David have been dancing at nightclubs is the final nail in the coffin that confirms they’re both currently single — but let’s hope Filip Gregov doesn’t pop up on the dance floor anytime soon.
