The Directorate of Veterinary Medicine in Gharbia confiscated 1,372 kilograms of meat, poultry, and smoked fish, “herring,” which were unfit for human consumption and whose data and source were unknown, as well as meat slaughtered outside slaughterhouses, presented and traded in the markets at centers. Dr. Nima Arif Mustafa, Director of the Directorate of Veterinary Medicine in Gharbia, had assigned inspection committees of slaughterhouse doctors and meat inspections in the Directorate, led by Dr. El-Sherbiny Atallah, Director of the Directorate of Slaughterhouses and Meat Inspection in the Directorate, which included the veterinary departments in the governorate centers, to tighten veterinary control over markets and food products of animal origin at the central and city levels.
