
Greater Cairo is preparing for the rainy season through a comprehensive sanitation plan, which aims to ensure the drainage of rainwater, and protect streets, squares and homes from any water accumulations, with careful monitoring of weather fluctuations and cloud movements.
The most prominent preparations have come, as stated by Adel Hassan, the company’s president. As follows:
1. Raising the maximum level of preparedness, in anticipation of rain falling in Greater Cairo.
2. Deploying equipment and extractors on main roads, roads, and public squares.
3. Follow up on meteorological warnings regarding low, medium and cumulus clouds.
4. Disinfecting rain drains to ensure rapid drainage of water when it falls.
5. Disinfecting sewage networks and complexes to increase capacity.
6. Disinfecting the wells of lifting stations and increasing their operational readiness.
7. Maintaining and raising the efficiency of lifting stations in preparation for increased amounts of water.
8. Reviewing backup generation units to ensure continued operation of stations and equipment.
9. Preparing plans to position equipment, such as hoods and cars, in axes, squares, views, and bridge houses.
10. Preparing pedals and submersible pumps to deal with hot areas most exposed to water accumulations.
11. Continuous coordination with the Meteorological Authority, to update movement plans according to the weather condition.
12. The readiness of emergency teams to quickly deal with any accumulations of rainwater.
