Jacksonville Jaguars hand huge $60 MILLION extension to star wide receiver Jakobi Meyers six weeks after trading for him

Jakobi Meyers is putting pen to paper on a huge new $60 million, three-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, six weeks after arriving from Las Vegas.
The Jags, who have gone 5-1 since Meyers’ arrival in Florida, risked losing him into free agency at the end of the season, but have now tied him down to a long-term deal.
The blockbuster contract, which has $40 million guaranteed, was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, and ties Meyers down until the end of the 2028 season.
Since arriving from the Raiders, the wide receiver has 27 catches for 355 yards and two touchdowns.
Perhaps more importantly for Meyers himself, he has gone from the worst team in the NFL in Las Vegas, to a real Super Bowl contender, with the Jags 10-4 and top of the AFC South.
With Trevor Lawrence at quarterback, the Jags are on a five-game win streak and face the Broncos next in a huge game before Christmas.
Jakobi Meyers has agreed the biggest contract of his NFL career so far, $60m over three years
Meyers has only been in Jacksonville six weeks, but the team have gone 5-1 in that time
Meyers began his NFL career with the New England Patriots after going undrafted out of North Carolina State.
He played four seasons at Foxborough, before leaving as a free agent after the 2022 season and signing a three-year, $33 million contract in Vegas.
Meyers then played two full seasons for the Raiders, but requested to be traded by the team in August of this year amid a contract dispute.
On September 3, he rescinded his trade request – claiming the team ‘said no’ – before he was eventually dealt to Jacksonville in exchange for 2026 fourth and sixth round picks on November 4.
