Kate Siegel Launches Production Company Legitimate Pictures, Sets Feature Directorial Debut ‘Method’

EXCLUSIVE: Kate seal (The Fall of the House of Usher) has announced the launch of her production company Legitimate Pictures, along with Methodher feature directorial debut, which will mark her first project under the new banner.
Siegel formed Legitimate alongside her long-time manager Brittney McDade as a platform to create artistic and emotionally provoking female-forward content across multiple genres, for both film and television.

“Our company is devoted to innovative narratives, imaginative worlds, and the investigation of what is considered “normal,”” said Siegel. “We plan to question the traditional and champion the absurd in partnership with creatives who have been at the forefront of female storytelling.”
Siegel’s debut feature Methodpenned by Caitlin Parish & Erica Weiss (G20), from an original idea of Siegel’s, is in in development at Amazon MGM Studios. Plot details are under wraps. Denise Di Novi and Margaret French Isaac will produce alongside Siegel, with Oliver Scherick of Di Novi Pictures and McDade serving as executive producers.
In a statement to Deadline, producer French Isaac said, “We are big fans of Kate’s extraordinary work as a multi-hyphenate. Her creative vision is exceptional, and she explores important relevant themes in a fresh twisted way.”
Behind the camera, Siegel is coming off of V/H/S/Beyondhaving directed the seventh installment of the Shudder anthology, which earned a 2024 Critics Choice Award Nomination for Best Movie Made for Television. She also produced the dark comedy Damned If You Dostarring Harvey Guillén, which is slated for release later this year. We were first to report on that one.
As an actress, Siegel recently starred in the Neon film The Life of Chuck alongside Tom Hiddleston, Karen Gillian, Mark Hamill, and is currently in production on Mike Flanagan’s Carriehis series for Amazon MGM Studios based on the iconic debut novel from Stephen King. She’s best known for starring in such acclaimed series as Netflix’s The Fall of the House of Usher, Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manoralong with films like Oculus and Hushthe latter of which she also co-wrote alongside Flanagan.
