KFC quietly launches breakfast menu items – including a classic Aussie dish that’s got everyone talking

KFC is quietly trialling a breakfast menu at Sydney Airport – but it’s a $4.95 classic Aussie dish that’s got everyone talking.
Russell Stuart, known as Russ Eats, broke the news on social media after spotting the never-before-seen breakfast menu items – including a Zinger bacon and egg roll, Brekkie Tower, hashbrown and BLAT (bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato).
‘The first breaking news of 2026 – KFC breakfast… I’ve been asking for this for so long,’ the Aussie food content creator said in his now viral video.
‘Imagine a Zinger fillet with bacon and egg with a filthy hashbrown… Now that’s exactly what they’re trialling.’
Russ said the Brekkie Tower Combo – featuring a Zinger fillet, hashbrown, bacon and egg – was his top pick from the menu.
‘The Ultimate Brekkie Wrap, you can get Zinger or original crispy chicken. There’s a Zinger Bacon & Egg Roll and Zinger Toastie,’ he shared.
‘I have noticed they’ve added coffee to the menu. The thing is if we’re having KFC for breakfast, I’d want Dare (coffee) or Gatorade added to the menu.’
But there was one dish that caught his attention: avocado toast, priced at $4.95 for two slices of bread topped with smashed avocado.

‘If you’re going to KFC for avocado toast, there’s something f***ing seriously wrong with you,’ Russ joked, laughing.
Customers weighed in on the new breakfast menu, with many divided over KFC’s take on the classic avocado on toast.
‘The avo toast is so random,’ one said, laughing.
‘Avo toast would be good with a Zinger fillet on it I reckon,’ another shared.
‘Am I the only one excited for avo toast?’ one confessed.
‘$4.95 for avo toast is a good price to be honest,’ another pointed out.
While one suggested: ‘Does this mean we can add avocado to a Zinger burger now? Because that could be next level.’
Dozens were excited to get their hands on the breakfast items, with one sharing: ‘KFC breakfast is a game changer. Move over Maccas.’
‘This is peak breakfast,’ another shared.
‘I can’t wait to order a Zinger brekkie at 6am at the airport,’ one revealed.
‘I would eat KFC three times a day,’ another added.
‘I’m so happy about the BLAT because I’ve been WAITING for Maccas to bring back the BLT,’ one revealed.

Many nostalgic diners pointed out that KFC used to offer breakfast menu items.
‘They’ve trialled it a lot of times, my local trialled it probably 15-20 years ago? I wanna say sometime between 2005-2010?’ one recalled.
‘KFC did breakfast back in the 90s,’ another shared.
‘KFC used to have brekky in Ballarat about 10 years ago. It was unreal,’ one added.
‘Hold up… I oddly remember KFC doing breakfast in Melbourne,’ another revealed.
‘KFC had brekkie back in the 90s. It wasn’t like this, but it was ace,’ one said.
Many former KFC employees remember the breakfast menu at their stores.
‘KFC trialled this when I worked there 10 years ago. They made everyone start at 5-6am… It didn’t do well. People just wanted KFC meals for breakfast, not breakfast KFC,’ one ex-worker claimed.
‘Back when I worked at KFC 26 years ago, we used to be open early morning and did a breakfast menu,’ another added.
‘The KFC I worked at had breakfast right up until about nine to 10 years ago, it was bloody delicious,’ one recalled.

It’s unclear whether the new breakfast menu items are available at other stores – but travellers at Sydney Airport will now be able to order them.
‘Airports have their own unique concept of time, where people often order whatever they want, whenever they want – and we know our chicken is a delicious choice any time of day,’ a KFC spokesperson told Daily Mail.
‘So, does KFC have an exciting breakfast menu we’re trialling? You might have to catch a flight to find out.
‘But keep an eye out, because you never quite know when a new finger lickin’ menu item might drop.’
Meanwhile, some customers said they were happy to order regular KFC for breakfast.
‘Just give me a Zinger Box for breakfast, no need to ruin what’s already perfect,’ one shared.
