Kim Kardashian Reveals The Real Reason She Had To Delete Those Meghan & Harry Party Pics

Kim Kardashian has finally explained “Photogate”, and honestly, the reality is way less dramatic than the conspiracy theories made it out to be. The whole thing started when she and Kris Jenner quietly deleted those photos of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry from Kris’ 70th birthday posts, and the internet immediately decided it meant drama, snubbing or some kind of secret royal fallout.

On Khloé Kardashian’s podcast Khloé in Wonder Land, Kim said the situation wasn’t deep at all. “It was really innocent, which is so crazy,” she said, adding that “Mum and Meghan have been friends for some years now, and they have a really sweet relationship.”

They’d had this massive, star‑studded Bond‑themed party, then sat down afterwards like everyone does now and scrolled through the camera roll figuring out what was going on Instagram. Kim said, “We were told that it was totally cool to post”, so up the pics went — including the one with Meghan and Harry — and for a brief moment, it was just another extremely casual night at Jeff Bezos’ place.

Then comes the timing issue. Kim explained that after the photos were posted, “I think they realised it was Remembrance Day, and they didn’t want to be seen at a party, even though it’s already up, you know, and then taken down. And then I think they realised, like, ‘Oh, this was so silly’.”

She pointed out that Harry and Meghan had already been at the Baby2Baby charity gala earlier that night, which she said “was fine, but maybe not partying and dancing on the dance floor or whatever”. So the call was made: “So we took them down to respect Remembrance Day”.

For context, Remembrance Day in November honours members of the armed forces who’ve died in service, and the royals are usually front and centre at events like the service at The Cenotaph in London. So being photographed having a glam night out right around then was always going to hit differently, especially when every single move is screenshotted and dissected.

Kim also admitted she hated how big and negative the reaction became. She said, “If we just made it light and made it funny, you know, I think it would have been, like, received differently, but I hated how that was received for everyone. That sucks. It was just made into something that was so crazy and ridiculous that just didn’t have to be.”

At one point, she even joked about leaning all the way into it with a Skims bit: “We should do a full Skims campaign. Take the photo — even just us, like, I’ll shoot you at mom, you know, post it and then delete it, like, 30 minutes later. And then I say, ‘Oh, sorry, I didn’t have permission to post those photos for the campaign’.” There’s always an angle, I guess!

In the end, there was no secret feud, no royal blacklisting, just a very high‑profile case of “read the room” and pull down the posts.
