Kyle Sandilands And Jackie O Henderson In Talks For Radio Return After KIIS FM Implosion

Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson might not be done with breakfast radio just yet, with fresh reports they’re back in contact and actually talking about working together again.

So… are Kyle and Jackie O getting back together?

According to a source quoted by the Daily Telegraph, the pair are “talking and want to do radio again”, which is honestly a wild update given where things were even a week ago. The same source reckons “the ball will be in ARN’s court as to how this goes forward”, so any reunion is less concrete and more pending management approval vibes.

This all comes as Kyle gears up for what’s being framed as a potential legal stoush with the Australian Radio Network, after ARN told the ASX it considered his February on-air spray at Henderson to be “serious misconduct” and gave him 14 days to “remedy” a breach of his contract or risk termination. In that announcement, ARN said Sandilands’ behaviour during the show breached its services agreement and confirmed he would not appear on air during the 14‑day period.

The lawyers are lawyering

Behind the scenes, Sandilands has reportedly retained workplace relations firm Johnson Winter Slattery (JWS), the same firm that helped ink his massive 10‑year, reported $100 million deal with ARN.

An ARN employee that spoke to the Sydney Morning Herald has suggested Sandilands is prepared to take legal action against ARN if they move to terminate that contract.

“Kyle will definitely sue,” the source said.

“The agreement with ARN acknowledges the type of performer Kyle is: that he’s robust and a maverick-type character, and that’s something ARN has traded on for many years and gotten a lot of success out of.”

ARN, for its part, has been very clear in its market announcement that it believes his conduct amounted to serious misconduct and that there are contractual mechanisms to end the agreement if the breach isn’t fixed.

Jackie O steps back into the world

While all that’s bubbling away, Henderson has resurfaced after laying low since the show was pulled.

On Friday night she broke her silence with a statement clarifying, “I want to make one important point very clear: I did not quit or resign,” adding that she was “deeply saddened” by how everything had unfolded.

Earlier in the week, she’d formally told ARN she “cannot continue to work with Kyle Sandilands” after the February clash, which is what prompted the network’s ASX announcement and the show being yanked from the schedule.

How we got here

The whole saga kicked off on February 20 during a broadcast when Sandilands lost it over Henderson’s interest in astrology while she was looking at the birth chart of former-Prince Andrew on air. In audio from the segment, he accused her of being distracted and “off with the fairies”, claimed her fixation on horoscopes made her “almost unworkable”, and said “everyone in this building has mentioned it to me”, leaving her in tears.

Henderson said she was “offended” and later described it as a “total attack” on her professionalism, while Sandilands insisted it was “a factual observation”. Not long after, she walked out and did not return, and days later ARN told investors it considered his on‑air behaviour to be serious misconduct and suspended him under the terms of their deal.

What happens next?

The pair only signed their 10‑year deal with ARN in 2023, reported at around $100 million each, making them the highest‑paid duo in Australian radio. With that kind of money and legal muscle involved, any reunion is going to be less about nostalgia and more about contracts, risk, and what ARN thinks listeners (and advertisers) will tolerate from here.

For now, all that’s been reported is this: they’re talking, they “want to do radio again”, and ARN holds the cards on whether we hear them together on air any time soon. Seeing this isn’t the first scandal the pair have gotten through, I imagine it won’t stop them from invading our airways anytime soon in some form or another.
