MAFS’ Stephanie Has Slammed Tyson’s Controversial Comments

If you thought Married At First Sight (MAFS) intruder couple Stephanie Marshall and Tyson Gordon’s wedding was rough, their relationship devolved into a dumpster fire during the honeymoon.

The former soldier repeatedly told his new bride that she was “too masculine” for him because she had a career, and his perfect submissive wife would be someone who was “the opposite” of her. Once you add the fact that he’s criticised her age (two years older than him), judged her body count (less than his) and commented on how much food she eats, I think it’s fair to say these two won’t be in the experiment for much longer.

While we’ll have to wait and see how their relationship plays out on the show, Stephanie has already begun speaking out about her new groom.

The real estate agent told PEDESTRIAN.TV that it was “quite confronting” seeing his audition video and the side comments he made about her in Monday night’s episode. However, she wasn’t surprised because she doesn’t think he has “a great deal of emotional intelligence”.

“I mean, look, Tyson is an interesting character. That’s the word we’re gonna go with. I think Tyson, we can all agree, is very much ‘it’s my way or the highway’, and there’s not much room for movement outside of those parameters,” she said.

“How he thought I was woke by taking a 10 metre walk is quite interesting — I’d love to know more about that. And calling me ‘frigid’ because I didn’t want to kiss a stranger, that’s also very interesting.”

Another thing she didn’t expect him to consider a big deal was the fact that she’s 32 and he’s 30.

“When he started going into the fact that he wants this submissive woman and he wants someone who’s in their mid-20s or younger than him, to be honest with you, all I could think about in that moment was that he’s just looking for someone younger to manipulate,” she said.

“It’s also so hard as well because I found sometimes Tyson was a bit contradictory in what he was saying. He said he wanted someone who was driven and ambitious, and I’m very much those things, but then he wants someone submissive. So it was all a bit confusing.”

Why has Stephanie stayed in the experiment?

Despite their rough start, Stephanie revealed that she was committed to the experiment and giving Tyson a chance after putting her life on hold. And let’s be real, if you spent months auditioning and preparing to go on a reality show, would you really want to quit after just a few days?

“There was a reason that we were put together — and obviously, those reasons weren’t shown yet, so I wanted to keep delving deeper into why we had been paired,” she explained.

“There are a couple of things coming up that I’m not a huge fan of, but there is more to this person that I want to get to know.”

At this stage, it’s yet to be confirmed whether Stephanie and Tyson make it to the end of the experiment together. However, they don’t currently follow each other on Instagram — which, in social media terms, means everything.
