Man United youngster is invited to train with England senior team after impressive season

Manchester United youngster Ayden Heaven has been asked to train with the England first team after an impressive season at club level.

The 19-year-old has been involved with the Three Lions’ under-20 side this week, but has impressed senior boss Thomas Tuchel.

It comes in a season in which the centre back has made 16 appearances for the Red Devils first team, though he has found himself down the pecking order since Michael Carrick’s arrival saw United revert back to a two centre-back system.

Still, as per Sky Sports’ Danyal Khan, he is evidently rated highly by the England hierarchy, which bodes well for his future in the international set-up.

Heaven joined United in February 2025, leaving Arsenal for £1.5million in what was seen as a major coup at the time.

The centre back, who made his senior debut for Arsenal in the Carabao Cup in October 2024, signed a contract until June 2029 with the option of another year.

‘I’m incredibly proud to join Manchester United,’ said Heaven at the time. ‘I’m grateful to everyone who helped make this dream a reality.

‘There is so much that I want to achieve in the game, I’ll be giving everything to continue my development and become the best player that I can be.’

Since Carrick took over from Ruben Amorim earlier this year, Heaven has only played a handful of games, but spoke highly of the former United midfielder in March.

Asked by Capital Breakfast who would be in charge next year, he said: ‘I don’t mind, honestly. I’m just waiting to see, you know. Just whatever’s going to get us over the line.’

It is understood that Heaven will still travel with the England Under-20 side for their game against Italy on Friday.

The senior team, meanwhile, will take on Uruguay on Friday and Japan the following Tuesday.
