Miami Dolphins land new quarterback in massive free agency move hours after releasing Tua Tagovailoa

The Miami Dolphins have struck a $67.5million deal with Malik Willis to replace Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback.

It was announced on Monday that Tagovailoa is being released – despite signing a four-year, $212m contract in July 2024.

The move will cost Miami a record $99.2m in dead cap space but the Dolphins have moved quickly to fill the hole under center by signing Willis.

The 26-year-old has spent the last two seasons with the Green Bay Packers but, as revealed by NFL Network, Willis has now agreed to join the Dolphins.

He has signed a three-year, $67.5m deal that includes $45m guaranteed.

Willis began his career with the Tennessee Titans after being selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft.

In August 2024, the quarterback was drafted to the Packers in exchange for a seventh-round pick.
