"Minister’s spokesman"We developed Ataba Market to preserve the heritage character of the area

The official spokesman for the Council of Ministers, Counselor Mohamed Al-Homsani, confirmed today, Wednesday, that the efforts made in the Ataba Market development project in the first phase came in coordination between the Greater Cairo Reconstruction Authority, the National Authority for Urban Coordination, the Ministry of Local Development, and the Cairo Governorate, at a cost amounting to 50 million pounds.
Al-Homsani said in a telephone interview with “Al-Oula” Channel: On Egyptian TV: “The process of developing Ataba Market was comprehensive in developing areas for street vendors, in addition to the process of facilitating car traffic and improving storefronts, as 105 storefronts were developed, 4 buildings were restored and upgraded, and 11 properties in 3 streets were renovated, to benefit 500 individual vendors.”
He added that consideration was taken not to affect the buying and selling movement. For sellers, so that the development process takes place in stages… Pointing out that the sellers felt happy with the change and organization that took place compared to the previous situation, in addition to the process of distributing sales places that is carried out precisely to determine a place for each seller in coordination with the Cairo Governorate.
He pointed out that the state is keen on preserving and developing the heritage and historical character of the Historic Cairo region, and seeks to develop the entire region in accordance with the larger plan to develop and preserve the heritage character of the Historic Cairo and Khedival region, with the aim of Facilitating tourists’ experience of the region and increasing their number.
He explained that the state seeks to increase the number of hotel rooms in the downtown area, which will contribute to attracting more tourists… Pointing out that the development process in the downtown area is being carried out in cooperation between the Ministry of Housing, the Cairo Governorate, and the Urban Development Fund, in full coordination and under the supervision of the Prime Minister, and it still has many stages to complete.
