Ministry of Labor: Issuing 1,200 skill and craft practice certificates for workers in the new metro in Alexandria

The Alexandria Labor Directorate announced the start of issuing certificates measuring the skill level and craft practice cards for 1,200 workers participating in the new metro project in Alexandria Governorate, after conducting the necessary tests for them under the supervision of the Central Administration for Vocational Training at the Ministry of Labor.

 

According to a media statement today, Thursday, the issuance of these certificates comes in preparation for including uninsured workers within the protection system provided by the Ministry, And facilitating their appointment procedures, given that the “skill level” certificates And “practicing the craft” It has become one of the basic justifications for appointment or work in any other location.

 

 A number of these workers will also be included in the Ministry’s irregular employment system, allowing for means of support to be provided to them, within the framework of the Ministry’s plan to expand the irregular employment database nationwide to protect them and in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President The Republic.

 

Mohamed Kamal, Undersecretary of the Directorate, explained that practice tests for irregular workers had begun at the project’s work sites in the Abu Qir area, where 260 workers underwent tests as a first stage, out of a total of 1,200 workers targeted by the project, in coordination between the Ministry of Labor and Orascom.

 

The tests included a number of specialized professions, Among them: “general welding– Connection electrician – Metal wrenches – Metal filings technician – refrigerator pipes – sanitary plumber – Armed carpenter – Concrete blacksmith – Concrete mixer operator – Formation and installation worker of structures.

 

The Ministry of Labor confirmed its continued efforts to enhance the protection of irregular workers and raise their professional competence, in support of the national development projects being implemented in various governorates.
