Mum and her 10-year-old son rushed to hospital after allegedly being stabbed in a horrific roadside attack in Wollongong

A mother-of-two and her 10-year-old son have been allegedly stabbed in a violent roadside altercation in Wollongong.
The 27-year-old woman was driving with her two children, aged 10 and three, when they were allegedly forced to stop by another vehicle on West Dapto Road about 6pm on Wednesday.
The driver, a 59-year-old woman known to the family, reportedly got out of her car and approached their vehicle, sparking a heated confrontation.
The older woman then allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the young mother and her 10-year-old son.
Both suffered serious stab wounds and were treated at the scene by paramedics before they were airlifted to hospital.
Both mother and son remain in a serious but stable condition.
The woman’s three-year-old son escaped the incident unharmed and is now in the care of a family member.
Lake Illawarra Police District officers established a crime scene and launched an immediate investigation.
A woman, 59, will front court after a young woman and her son allegedly were stabbed on Wednesday evening
Officers arrested the woman at a home in nearby Horsley at 6.30pm on Wednesday.
The 59-year-old was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
She was refused bail and is set to appear before Wollongong Local Court today..
