The Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative, Mustafa Barghouti, said that the ongoing meetings in Cairo between the Palestinian factions represent a decisive step in the process of consolidating the ceasefire agreement that was recently reached in Sharm El-Sheikh, indicating that the Egyptian role was decisive in thwarting the most dangerous conspiracy that aimed to displace the Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip. He added, in a special interview with the journalist Ahmed Abu Zeid, on the “Cairo News” channel, that the strict and clear Egyptian position prevented the implementation of the ethnic cleansing plan sought by Israel.
He explained that this plan failed. A complete failure that came as a result of the combination of two main factors: the heroic steadfastness of the Palestinian people, the Egyptian position, and the role that Egypt played alongside Qatar in the mediation that led to stopping the war, and this is an important achievement. Preventing renewed aggression and providing appropriate conditions for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip to ensure the steadfastness of the Palestinians and their continued presence in their land.
