Netflix Confirms Wednesday S3 & Hints At A Spin-Off Series

We’ve all been excited for our favourite ghoulish, straight-faced diva to return to our screens for Wednesday season two. But while our braided hero’s return is right around the corner, the good news doesn’t stop there: Wednesday has been renewed by Netflix for a third season! I’d give Thing a high-five if I could!!!

The happy (yet expressionless) news was confirmed by co-creator and showrunner Alfred Gough on Thursday.

“Television has — and always will be — a team sport,” he said to Netflix’s Tudum.

“[Fellow co-creator] Miles Millar and I have been doing this long enough to know that shows like this don’t come along every day. It’s such an alchemy of writing, directing, acting, crew, streamer, studio, and fans. We remain grateful and excited to continue this journey and tell these stories with all of our partners.”

Truthfully, it’s not that much of a shock. Wednesday has been an acclaimed hit, with season one still holding strong as the most-viewed English-language series on the streaming platform.

While season two is expected to lean into its dark comedy roots, Gough says that season three is going to expand the world of Nevermore, introduce us to more characters and dig deeper into the identities of the personalities we already know and love.

“Our goal for Season 3 is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can,” Gough explained.

“We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday.”

So, season three is officially locked, loaded and confirmed by the big dogs. However, that’s not all the Wednesday-related tea I have for you today. Rumour has it that a top-secret spin-off series is in the works and Gough even hinted at it in a chat with The Hollywood Reporter.

“It’s something we’re definitely noodling; there are other characters we can look at,” Gough said, before Netflix executive Bela Bajaria added, “There’s a lot to explore in the Addams Family.”

Exciting! Who could it be? Uncle Fester? Enid? Thing?!

Only time will tell, I guess.

Part one of Wednesday season two drops on August 6, with part two hitting our screens on September 3.
