Netflix’s Sam Bankman-Fried Limited Series Sets Cast, Including Madison Hu, Matt Rife & Paul Reiser Among 10

Netflix‘s Sam Bankman-Fried limited series The Altruists is rounding out its cast with 10.

Eugene Young (Veep, NCIS: Los Angeles), Madison Hu (The Brothers Sun), Karan Soni (Deadpool, Miracle Workers), Matt Rife, Alex Lawther (Andor) and Naomi Okada will take on series regular roles working alongside leads Julia Garner and Anthony Boyle.

Maddie Hasson (The Recruit), Children Phung (Y: The Last Man)Paul is traveling (The Kominsky Method, Mad About You) and Robin Weigert (Deadwood, Big Little Lies) will appear in recurring roles.

The story of Sam Bankman-Fried (Boyle) and Caroline Ellison (Garner), two hyper-smart, ambitious young idealists who tried to remake the global financial system in the blink of an eye – and then seduced, coaxed, and teased each other into stealing $8 billion.

“I’m moved beyond measure to get to assemble so many of my favorite actors in the world to explore the many lives caught up in this grand and heartbreaking tragedy,” shared co-showrunner and EP Graham Moore,

Young will play Gary Wang, Hu as Constance Wang, Soni as Nishad Singh, Rife as Ryan Salame,
Lawther as Sam Trabucco, and Okada as Claire Watanabe. Hasson will play Lauren Platt, Phung as Lily Zhang, Reiser as Joe Bankman, and Weigert as Barbara Fried.

James Ponsoldt (The Spectacular Now, Daisy Jones & The Six) will direct the first episode and executive produce alongside Vinnie Malhotra and Jessie Dicovitsky for Higher Ground Productions, Scoop Wasserstein for New York Magazine/Vox Media Studios, Tonia Davis, Lauren Morelli, and Julia Garner.

The Altruists is the latest project out of Higher Ground’s successful creative partnership with Netflix. Additional projects with Higher Ground include the upcoming All the Sinners Bleedthe recently released Air Force Elite: Thunderbirdsthe recently released Starting 5, Bodkin, Leave the World Behind, American Symphony, Working: What We Do All Day and Rustin. Vox/New York Magazine has also collaborated with Netflix on Inventing Anna.
