Osama Rabie: The recent Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement constituted an important step towards stabilizing the regional situation

The Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, said that the recent Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement constituted an important step towards stabilizing the regional situation.

Rabie confirmed – in a telephone interview with Al-Hayat TV – that the success of the second phase of the peace agreement will be a major factor in encouraging ships to gradually return to the Suez Canal, pointing out that technical and logistical preparations have already begun to accommodate the return of full navigational traffic.

Regarding the meeting that brought together President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Maersk Company Robert Maersk Aujla, Rabie said that the meeting was very fruitful, pointing out that President El-Sisi directed that all facilities be provided to investors, stressing that this presidential support encourages major international companies to pump additional investments, especially in ship scrapping projects, developing marine arsenals, and switching to fuel.
