Sadat Party: Establishing “new settlements” in the West Bank, violation of international law and wasting peace opportunities

Representative Effat Sadat, Undersecretary of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and the head of the Sadat Democratic Party, in the strongest terms, condemned the decision of the Israeli occupation authorities to agree to the establishment of 22 new settlements in the occupied West Bank, stressing that this decision represents a serious escalation and a blatant provocation to the will of the international community, and a flagrant violation of international law and international legitimacy decisions related to the case Palestinian.

& nbsp; The Israeli decision reveals the continuation of the policy of imposing the fait accompli, and a systematic endeavor by the Israeli occupation to change the demographic and geographical map of the occupied Palestinian territories, with the aim of undermining any opportunity to achieve a two -state solution, and to impose full control of the West Bank, in a flagrant challenge to the Security Council resolutions and the United Nations General Assembly, and the principles of international humanitarian law.

With the Senate, and the head of the Sadat Democratic Party, the occupation decision comes in a very sensitive timing, as the regional situation is witnessing a state of extreme tension, and it needs to calm and build confidence, and not to escalatory and provocative measures that exacerbate the crisis and abort international endeavors to revitalize the peace path. The Israeli does not have any legal legitimacy, and it cannot be accepted as a fait accompli, calling on the international community, especially the actors in the peace file in the Middle East, to assume its moral, political and humanitarian responsibilities, and to take practical and deterrent measures that obligate Israel to stop its settlement activities immediately, and comply with international legitimacy resolutions. To peace it begins from fully recognized the rights of the unusual Palestinian people, foremost of which is the establishment of its sovereign independent state on the borders of June 4 of 1967, and its capital is East Jerusalem, noting that this requirement is not only Palestinian and Arab, but also an international demand approved by the United Nations and the Security Council on more than one occasion. Settlement expansion, and the imposition of more facts on the ground, is a clear declaration of rejecting all political settlement initiatives, recklessness in the will of the international community, and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, which calls for a serious international pause to put an end to these aggressive policies. The repeated incursions of holy sites, and attacks on civilians, all of which constitute a system of systematic violations aimed at undermining all peace endeavors, and achieving full control of the occupied lands.

& nbsp;

called & quot; The countries that support peace to the immediate action and political and diplomatic pressure on the Israeli government to retract their recent settlement decisions, and work to launch a serious political path, which leads to a fair and comprehensive settlement that ends the occupation, and restores the rights to its owners. It will always remain at the forefront of the defenders of the legitimate Palestinian rights, foremost of which is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, calling at the same time to unify Arab and international efforts to stop aggressive practices and stand firmly in the face of the occupation and its expansionist policies that threaten the future of the region and its stability.
