‘Sinners’, ‘Frankenstein’ Lead American Cinematheque’s Fifth Annual Tribute To The Crafts Honorees

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein lead honorees for tjhe American Cinematheque‘s 5th annual Tribute to the Craftswhich will take place January 16, 2026 at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Sinners is being honored for both Francine Maisler’s casting and Ludwig Göransson’s music score. Frankenstein also will receive a pair of awards, in the categories of Hair & Makeup and Production Design/Set Decoration/Prop Master.

Tributes to the Crafts honors those who are at the heart of filmmaking and have exhibited extraordinary work behind the camera over the past year. The evening will celebrate excellence across 13 categories, recognizing the major crafts that shape the best in film. Honorees were selected by a jury of journalists, film historians and cinephiles.

Others being honored this year include One Battle After Another, Train Dreams, Wicked: For Good, Hedda, KPop Demon Hunters, F1, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Weapons and Avatar: Fire and Ash.

In addition, Oscar-nominated production designer Jack Fisk will receive the group’s Career Achievement Award for his body of work over the past five decades. Through his long-standing collaborations with directors like Terrence Malick, David Lynch, Paul Thomas Anderson, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Martin Scorsese and Josh Safdie, he has contributed to some of contemporary cinema’s most iconic films including There Will Be Blood, The Revenant, The Tree of Life, Mulholland Drive, Killers of the Flower Moon and, most recently, A24’s Marty Supreme.

The January event will also recognize the late Andrew J. Kuehn Jr. with the Unsung Hero Award. Kuehn was a trailblazing film marketing visionary, often called the “Godfather of Movie Trailers,” who reshaped the movie trailer industry, turning it into a powerful creative and commercial force over the course of his 43-year career. In honor of the posthumous award, the American Cinematheque has added a new category for Best Trailer, which was selected by a jury of judges who are experts in the field of film marketing and trailer-making.

The event will again be co-hosted by film producers and American Cinematheque board members Stephanie Allain (Exhibiting Forgiveness, Dear White People, Billy Preston: That’s the Way God Planned It) and Paula Wagner (Marshallthe first three installments of the Mission: Impossible franchiseThe Last Samurai, Vanilla Sky).

“It was an incredible year at the movies, and there is no better place to watch the essential work of the artisans and craftspeople that shaped this year’s films like the cinema. Our jury had plenty of worthy selections to choose from,” said Grant Moninger, the American Cinematheque’s artistic director.

The Tribute to the Crafts honorees are:

  • Hair and Makeup: Frankenstein (Mike Hill, Cliona Furey & Jordan Samuel) – Netflix
  • Production Design/Set Decoration/Prop Master: Frankenstein (Tamara Deverell, Shane Vieau & Christopher Geggie) – Netflix
  • Score: Sinners (Ludwig Göransson) – Warner Bros
  • Song: “Golden” – KPop Demon Hunters (EJAE, Mark Sonnenblick, IDO, 24, & TEDDY) – Netflix
  • Sound: F1 (Al Nelson, Gwendolyn Yates Whittle, Gary Rizzo, Juan Peralta & Gareth John) – Apple Original Films

The fifth annual Tribute to the Crafts event is being produced by Madelyn Hammond & Javier Infante of Hammond Infante Productions.
