Counselor Dr. Hanafi Gebali, Speaker of the House of Representatives, delivered a speech about the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit – October 2025 during the plenary session of the Council today, Thursday, October 26, 2025.
The Rosaly Youssef portal publishes the text of the speech:
Ladies and gentlemen, representatives of the people of Egypt;
Nations have positions that make history, and countries have destinies. In it, resolves are tested, and Egypt – thanks to God – has never lost sight of its leadership position, nor has it neglected the call of duty whenever the voice of truth and humanity calls. What the city of Sharm El-Sheikh witnessed on the thirteenth of this October was not a passing conference on the agenda of international politics. Rather, it was an exceptional event that will remain a shining mark in the record of modern history, when more than thirty leaders of countries, governments and international organizations came together, under the joint presidency of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump, in a scene that embodies Egypt’s solid position among nations and confirms its ability to To always be a bridge for peace and not an arena for war.
This summit came as a result of strenuous efforts made by Egypt, over the past two years, during which it moved at the regional and international levels in order to stop the bloodshed in Gaza, and in order for the language of reason and wisdom to rise above the noise of cannons. The Egyptian call was a call for life in the face of the machine of death, and a voice for humanity in a time when it was weakened. It has votes.
In a solemn scene, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stood before world leaders, calling for a just and lasting solution that guarantees the Palestinian people their legitimate rights, stressing that a just peace is not a political luxury, but rather a humanitarian and security necessity for the stability of the region and the world. These sincere efforts culminated in the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement, which put an end to the war in Gaza and paved the way for a new phase of international cooperation concerned with a comprehensive ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces, and the wide opening of humanitarian and relief corridors to the Palestinian people who suffered from the scourges of bombing, hunger and destruction.
The agreement also paves the way – as the US President announced – for integrated stages that begin By establishing security, issues related to governance, and creating conditions for the reconstruction of Gaza, and ending with a clearly defined political path towards a comprehensive and just settlement of the Palestinian issue. Representatives of the people of Egypt.
The high-level participation that the summit witnessed, from leaders who came from all sides, is conclusive evidence of Egypt’s position and its wise leadership in the conscience of the world’s peoples and governments, and an acknowledgment of its ability to maintain its integrity and bear its international and regional responsibilities with confidence, ability and sincerity.
The Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Conference was not an end station, but rather a point. Embarking on a new path of joint international action, it reflects the clear support of the international community for the efforts of Egypt and regional and international partners to end the war and address the roots of instability in the Middle East, most notably the absence of a just settlement of the Palestinian issue.
The Egyptian leadership has proven, in word and deed, that sticking to principle is not an option but rather a destiny imposed by responsibility and strengthened by experience. The people of Egypt at home and abroad stood watching their leader as he received the country’s guests with a face overflowing with wisdom and dignity, and with a high-level diplomatic performance that combined solidity in stance, flexibility in dialogue, and transcendence in purpose.
Egypt’s hospitality was – as we have known it – the hospitality of good lands and pure hearts, the hospitality of the One who is capable and does not exalt himself, the just who does not weaken, and the sincere person who does not ask. Except for security and peace for the peoples of the region and the world.
Egypt, God willing – the leadership and the people – will remain faithful to its mission, guarding the gate of peace, watching over the security of the nation, sparing no effort and sparing no effort in supporting the truth, preserving dignity, and providing relief to the afflicted, so that our Palestinian brothers can enjoy security after fear, prosperity after destruction, and freedom after The record.
May God protect Egypt, grant success to its leader and men in completing the peace process, and restore its security to the region, its rights to Palestine, and its rationality to humanity.
May God’s peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you.
