
The media center of the National Food Safety Authority issued its weekly report No. (46) for the year 2025, for the period from December 6 to 12, including an intensive collection of food control activities locally and internationally, within the framework of the directives of Dr. Tariq Al-Houbi, Chairman of the Authority, to tighten control, ensure food safety and protect consumer health.
150 thousand tons of food exports to 174 countries
The report revealed that the total number of food shipments exported amounted to About 5,040 consignments with an estimated quantity of 150,000 tons, issued by 1,570 companies, included about 650 food items.
Saudi Arabia, Sudan, the Emirates, Spain, and the Netherlands topped the list of receiving countries.
Sweet potatoes came at the forefront of exported vegetables with 10,000 tons, followed by onions and beans, while citrus fruits topped the list with 16,000 tons, followed by Strawberries and pomegranates.
Cairo Air Port exports 1,550 consignments, and the authority also issued 1,190 export health certificates to support food exports.
Imports and customs releases
Egypt received about 1,950 incoming food consignments with a quantity of approximately 380 thousand tons, which it exported. Wheat, soybeans, and oils, and France came at the forefront of countries exporting to Egypt.
The authority released 1,235 consignments temporarily, and 431 consignments within the rapid release system, while seizing 254 non-conforming consignments, and re-exporting 6 rejected consignments, in order to preserve consumer health and prevent congestion at the ports.
Strategic goods And bakeries
The authority carried out extensive inspection visits to wheat and rice storage sites, in addition to 156 visits to bakeries of various types, to ensure compliance with health requirements. The total number of warehouses registered with the authority reached 1,519, an indication of the expansion of the oversight umbrella.
Field campaigns on markets
The various governorates witnessed expanded inspection campaigns that included thousands of food establishments, which resulted in the seizure and destruction of large quantities of spoiled, expired, or unknown source food, with reports being drawn up and legal measures being taken. necessary.
The campaigns included the governorates of: Gharbia, Beheira, Sharkia, Qalyubia, Alexandria, Dakahlia, Ismailia, Menoufia, Luxor, Qena, Assiut, Kafr El-Sheikh, Aswan, Damietta, Red Sea, Beni Suef, Port Said, New Valley, and others.
Registration and licensing Establishments
The Authority registered 438 new public food establishments during the week, bringing the total number of registered establishments to 69,741 establishments.
The Authority also continued to register and license commercial chains, as the number of registered branches reached 2,190 branches belonging to 59 chains, in addition to registering dairy, fish, slaughterhouses, mobile food units, and establishments. The National Food Safety Authority renewed its appeal. Citizens must report any violations affecting food safety, through the unified government complaints system or the hotline 16528, stressing the continuation of its intensive oversight efforts to ensure safe and healthy food for the Egyptian citizen.
