The Eritrean President: Our relationship with Egypt is historical and strategic, and we work together to stabilize the region

Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki stressed that relations between Egypt and Eritrea represent a strategic partnership aimed at achieving integration and cooperation in order to change the reality of the region facing increasing turmoil and crises, stressing that the responsibilities placed on the two countries at this stage are greater than people imagine.

President Afwerki said – during an interview with Cairo News Channel Al-Youm – that the relationship between the two countries was built on a long history of cooperation and mutual respect, explaining that the present is witnessing shared responsibilities that fall on It is the responsibility of the countries of the Nile Basin and the Horn of Africa, in light of the challenges the region is witnessing.

 

He added that the stability, growth and prosperity of the region requires bilateral and collective cooperation among its countries, stressing that Egyptian-Eritrean cooperation represents an essential element for achieving development and resolving the issues of the region, stressing that joint efforts aim to address the issues in a spirit of integration away from any external interference.

 

In the context of his talk about the continent In Africa, the Eritrean President stressed that the main challenge facing the continent is development, pointing out that Africa has been marginalized for a long time and its resources are constantly being plundered, calling for concerted regional and international efforts to exploit the enormous resources that the continent possesses in order to achieve development for its people.
