On Sunday night, Olivia Dean stole the spotlight at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards. The British singer turned heads on the red carpet in an embroidered black-and-white Chanel gown, took home the Best New Artist gong, and shimmered in a red sequin Chanel minidress for her performance of Man I Need, effortlessly blending red-carpet glamour with her signature London cool-girl ease.
From luminous skin crafted entirely with Hourglass products to soft voluminous waves styled using Olaplex and Tangle Teezer, every detail of her look was carefully curated to feel polished yet effortlessly chic. Here’s how celebrity make-up artist Celia Burton and celebrity hairstylist Rachel Polycarpe brought Dean’s Grammy-night vision to life.
The glow-first make-up
‘The inspiration for Olivia is never very far away – it’s always about letting her feel like herself,’ says Celia Burton. ‘She naturally has this Diana Ross–esque energy: disco, freedom, glamour and beauty. The look was about honouring Hollywood elegance while keeping it grounded in that effortless London ‘cool girl’ spirit.’
The key to achieving that vibe? A glowing, luminous base. ‘We started by really prepping her skin,’ Burton explains. ‘The goal from the beginning was a radiant glow – nothing too heavy or overdone. It was all about letting the skin breathe and shine naturally.’
After prepping Dean’s skin until it was ‘super dewy,’ Burton applied the Illusion Luminous Glow Foundation in shade 18, and used the Vanish Airbrush Concealer in shades Sienna and Maple to brighten and subtly sculpt the face.
She set everything with the Veil Translucent Setting Powder in Medium, then did a light baking moment using the Vanish Airbrush Pressed Powder in Translucent Tan, ‘really pressing it in to lock everything down while keeping the skin fresh and radiant.’
For the eyes, Burton built soft drama with the Curator Eyeshadow Palette in Minimalist, ‘focusing on matte tones to create structure without heaviness.’ A dramatic wing was achieved with 1.5MM Mechanical Gel Eye Liner in Obsidian and sharpened with Voyeur Waterproof Liquid Liner. She layered on ‘loads of the Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara’ to finish, then softly dragged whatever was left of the eyeshadow underneath the eye to add a hint of smoke.
Dean’s brows were lightly filled in with the Arch Brow Micro Sculpting Pencil in Medium Brown and set with the Arch Brow Shaping Gel in Clear.
Her cheeks were given life with Unreal Liquid Blush in Future, while the Ambient Lighting Palette in Volume III added golden warmth. ‘It’s our absolute favourite palette on Olivia – it just works every time.’
Finally, Burton contoured and shaped Dean’s lips using the Shape & Sculpt Lip Liner in Candid, before filling in the centre with Unlocked Satin Crème Lipstick in Larch, pressed together for a soft, wearable drama.
The look was sealed with Veil Soft Focus Setting Spray – a finishing touch that blends everything seamlessly while keeping it in place all night.
Soft, voluminous hair
Celebrity hairstylist Rachel Polycarpe complemented Olivia’s radiant make-up with hair that was bold yet effortless. ‘The vision was a modern homage to high-glam eras where hair felt unapologetically full,’ she says. ‘We wanted big volume and soft curls that moved naturally, striking a balance between texture and romantic softness.’
The process began with Olaplex Bond Maintenance Shampoo and Conditioner to restore hair bonds and create a smooth base. Next, Polycarpe used the Ultimate Detangler for naturally curly hair to evenly distribute the Olaplex Nº.5 Leave-In Conditioner, followed by the Nº.9 Bond Protector Nourishing Hair Serum to minimise breakage prior to heat styling.
Dean’s hair was then blow-dried for smooth movement, and Nº.7 Bonding Oil added shine and reinforced the strands.
Soft curls were created with a curling iron, then once completely curled, Polycarpe brushed the hair out using the Ultimate Styler to shape and soften the waves. The Olaplex 4D Dry Shampoo provided root lift and extra texture, and a light mist of hairspray and shine spray locked in the look, giving Olivia Dean hair that feels polished but effortless – a red-carpet-ready style with a London ‘cool girl’ twist.
